Go Dolphins

This Saturday will be the last game for the U7 Dolphins. I must say I have enjoyed coaching my son’s soccer team a little more than I expected. The kids were great and I had a lot of fun. Having never played soccer it was a learning experience to say the least. With the help of Coach Carlos and some other parents I hope the kids were able to progress as soccer players. Who knows I might even want to coach again next year.

Training Update

I have been really slack over the past two weeks. I have not trained on a regular basis at all. Lack of motivation and I was a little sick there for a couple of days. Last week I swam and ran once each. That is not going to cut it. This week so far I ran three times. All three were pretty good runs. I think there was a problem with the app I was using. I ran the same route twice and it came up with two different distances and times. Either that or I hit the pause button and did not know it. I think the route was roughly 2.5 miles. For the rest of the week I want to bike once and swim twice. We will see how that goes.

Training Upate 24 Jul 09

This week got off to a slow start but I am now rolling pretty good.

Wednesday I swam in the afternoon at the gym. I did 14 laps in about 18 mins for 350 yards. I am getting a little better at my distance but I am sure I could be more efficient with my strokes. My goal by the time of the race is to be able to swim over 20 laps. I have a ways to go.

Thursday I decided to run in the morning. Using a new iphone app Motionx GPS I ran 2.28 miles in 26 mins. The cool thing about the app is that is saves your track. It told me what my average speed was and my max speed. Once I stopped I could look back at the route I took. It is great. Going forward in training I am going to run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Thursday evening I had tennis lessons. Starting to get into some rallies so I am getting a work out there also.

Friday(this morning) I went for a bike ride on a bike outside. I was so excited about the new app that I wanted to try it out on the bike. I rode a little over 6 miles in about 40 mins. This was a good route as it was not flat. There were several good hills. The first part of the bike ride was getting used to the gears. Once I got that down it was smooth sailing. My front tire needs a little air but other than that I think the bike will be fine for riding in the race. I think Ii got more out of riding and running outside this week. From now on I will ride outside as well as run.

Training Update

This morning was the first time I trained since Friday. I jogged for about 27 mins around the neighborhood. It was my plan to jog to the school across the street then go around the track a couple of times and head home. Well when I got tot he school the track was locked. My play this morning was
Get at me Dog- DMX
Stop Being Greedy- DMX
Against All Odds- Tupac
White Man'z World- Tupac
Bring Me To Life- Evanescence
Somewhere I Belong- Linkin Park

It was not a bad run. I think I may run outside on Tuesday and Thursday mornings going forward.

Training Update

Monday I ran 2.75 miles in about 29 mins. Felt pretty good during the run but am sore as hell. Tuesday and Thursdays are my tennis lessons. Have not decided if I will train during the morning on those days as the lessons are in the evening. Today I did 12 laps of 25 yards each. It was not pretty but I made it through. I am wondering if I should have someone help me with my stroke or not mess with it at this point. Either way I feel a little better about the swim.

Training for Angels Race 2009

Not sure how this came to be but I have begun training for a triathlon on September 20, 2009.

This is not a full or even a half triathlon it is considered a sprint.
300 Meter Swim
20K Bike
5K Run

I chose this event because the swim is in a pool. Not that strong of a swimmer so wanted to make sure if I drank too much water some one could get to me quickly.

I have roughly 11 weeks to prepare for the race. When I say race I by no means think I am going to win. I just want to finish.

I will keep you posted on my progress.

House Listed

Today we listed our house on the market. It has only taken us two months to get the house ready. I am excited to finally get the house listed but I am not excited about what is to come. Who knows how long it will take for the house to sell. Our ultimate goal will be to move closer to work. I currently work from home and Carly still works in RTP. If we can knock off ten minutes from her commute that would be great. The good thing is there are are pletny of houses out there for sale. That is also the bad thing. We would like an extra bedroom and a master on the same floor as the rest of the bedrooms. All things I think we will be able to find. Now we wait.

Monday Monday

After three years of talking and have four or five real estate agents we are finally going to put the house on the market. A an agent will come by the house tomorrow. We have spent the past three weeks getting the house ready. After making a run to the storage unit yesterday I could not believe how much junk we have. If and when we buy a new house I think most of said junk should make its way to the trash heap. So we will see how long it will takes to get an offer.

Today I start a biggest loser type of competition with some friends. My goal is to lose a few pounds and become a little more active. I am currently 195(official weigh in tonight). I would love to lose 20 pounds. A big part of that will be what I eat. I will have to keep you posted on my progress.
